The Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Oil Minister Hayyan Abdul Ghani inaugurated today, Friday, the DS2-GTG in Majnoon Oilfield with a capacity of 56 megawatts.

The DS2-GTG Power Plant is a key element of the Majnoon green power development strategy. To meet the rising electricity demands in Majnoon, construction of the DS2 3x16.5MW Gas Turbine Generation Power Plant, known as the "GTG Power Plant," began in September 2022 and was successfully connected to the grid in February 2024. The plant now provides 20MW of stable and clean energy to downstream facilities, greatly easing the power supply burden on production operations in the Majnoon oilfield. Also, linking the station’s production to the national grid.
